William Forsythe was a member of Col. William Mountjoy's Regiment during the War of 1812. This Regiment was part of the Kentucky Volunteer Militia under overall Commander Gen. Isaac Shelby. The Kentucky Militia fought in the Battle of the Thames in Ontario, Canada in October 1813 a battle in which the Shawnee Chief Tecumseh would lose his life.

William married Sarah Smith in February 1830. She appears to have passed away over the next few years and no children are known.
