Eugene Amoretti, Sr. (1817-1910), Lander, Wyoming's most prominent Catholic layman. Mr. Amoretti, often referred to as the founder of Lander, was an immigrant from Venice, Italy, who became wealthy as a businessman, banker, and real estate developer. Also he gained prominence in public life as the first mayor of Lander, and a member of the first Territorial Legislature.
