"Sally P. Butler, 73, of Millersville passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 5 at Manor Care with her loving husband at her side. Sally fought a courageous 2-1/2 year battle with cancer. Her final therapy was provided by Lancaster Hospice and Community Care.

Born in Bridgeport, CT, she was the daughter of the late Jackson and Virginia (Hanlon) Holden. She was the loving wife of Robert J. Butler for almost 50 years. Sally received her Bachelor of Arts degree in English from the University of Connecticut. She then went to work for AT&T International as a Computer Programmer. Later on she worked as a Project Manager for Hershey Foods and a Senior Project Leader for Lancaster General Hospital.

Sally was an expert seamstress; she designed and made over 60 full-sized decorative flags for her home and as gifts for friends and family. She enjoyed baking cookies for loved ones and especially for the eight Dachshunds she owned over a 50 year period. In her younger years, Sally was a Sunday School teacher and a Girl Scout leader for her daughter Ginger's troop.

Sally also enjoyed traveling, particularly her honeymoon in Tokyo during the 1964 Olympics. She and Bob also visited Kyoto, Hiroshima, Nagasaki, Mt Fuji and many other interesting areas. She also lived in London for 3 years and visited many European countries. The Normandy region of France was her favorite destination.

In addition to her husband, Sally will be missed by her loving daughter Ginger, wife of Kevin Martin of Manheim and her step grandson, William Martin, of Altoona. She is also survived by two brothers: Elton Holden of Longmeadow, MA; Joel Holden of Dataw, SC; and three sisters: Susan Krech of Charlton, MA; Jacqui Zimmerman of Stamford, CT; and Lynn Laino of Springfield, MA. She was preceded in death by her sister Mary and foster brother Gene. Sally also loved her Aunt Shirley and Uncle Carlie and the many Nieces and Nephews she leaves behind.

Friends will be received on Thursday evening, September 12, from 7:00 PM to 8:30 PM at the Charles F. Snyder Funeral Home & Crematory, 441 N. George St., Millersville. Funeral Services will be held at Grace United Methodist Church, 163 W. Frederick St., Millersville on Friday at 11:00 AM. Again, friends will be received on Friday at the church from 10:00 AM until the time of service. Interment is scheduled immediately after the service at the Millersville Mennonite Cemetery and is for family only.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Sally's memory to Mesothelioma Applied Research Foundation, 1317 King St., Alexandria, VA 22314.
