Regina Moore, 96, of Arthur, died Thursday, September 5, 2013, in the Sutherland Care Center.
Regina B. Moore was born September 7, 1916 in Buffalo, NY. She was the daughter of Leonard and Theresa (Hordich) Kowalski.
Regina received her early education in Buffalo. After graduating from the eighth grade, she attended and graduated from Gregg School of Business in Shanghai, China.
After her father's death in 1928, Regina, her mother and two sisters accompanied her older brothers to China. Her brothers went into the interior as missionaries, while Regina, her mother and sisters resided in Shanghai, working to support the family. Regina worked as a secretary at the American Presbyterian Mission Headquarters in Shanghai. Regina and her family spent seven years as missionaries. When the Japanese and Red Communists began fighting in China, the family had to flee on a steamship back to the United States.
Regina was united in marriage to Curtis Moore in 1941. The couple resided in the Buffalo, New York area. Regina enjoyed being a homemaker and mother besides continuing her secretarial career.
Regina served as a Sunday School teacher and spoke to church groups on her experiences in China. She had a heart for missions and encouraged her children to serve the Lord. In 2008 Regina moved to Arthur, Nebr. to be near her daughter and son-in-law. She attended Arthur Baptist Church and was active in the Women's group. Regina enjoyed living in new places and meeting new people.
Preceding her in death were her parents, husband, two sisters and two brothers.
Survivors include her children: David (Pamela) Moore of Wilmington, Del.; and Elaine (Ben) Keene of Arthur, NE. She is also survived by six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren as well as several nieces, nephews and many friends.
The Funeral Service will be Monday, Sept. 9, at 10 a.m. in the Arthur Baptist Church, preceded by the visitation starting at 9 a.m. Rev. Ben Keene will officiate. Interment is in the Arthur Cemetery. Draucker Funeral Home of Ogallala is in charge of arrangements.
