Dale Benjamin Weston, 72, died on March 25, 2011, in Montpelier.
Dale was born April 20, 1937, to Ben E and Marie Pope Weston, and was raised in Pickleville. He attended school in Garden City and Laketown, enjoying the camaraderie of many cousins. He took pride in his family relationships, especially revering his grandfathers. He enjoyed the simple beauties of life even as a boy--fishing, shooting, and time spent in the hayfields with his dad and uncles. Dale liked listening to their funny stories and tried to remember most of them. He appreciated good horses, fat cattle and loyal dogs.
Dale served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints to the Gulf States. Upon his return, he served in the army reserves, proving his faithfulness as both saints and patriot. He married Pamela June Porter on Nov. 16, 1962, in the Logan Temple. Dale and Pam raised three children, Kevin, Lyn and June Marie, teaching them to find treasures in the simple things as well.
Dale had the interesting assignment of serving as the last bishop of the Bear Lake Ward and the first bishop of the newly organized Garden City Ward. This brought many challenges, but Dale rose to the occasion, and under his watch, construction of the beautiful Garden City chapel was begun. Dale held this duty sacred to his heart as he often testified to his family about the miracles which surrounded the undertaking.
Dale and Pam moved to Cokeville in 1976 and have been part of that community ever since. Dale served in many other capacities, both civically and within the church, but he may be best noted for his humble and diligent perseverance as a home teacher. He truly loved the families he taught and treated the duty as a privilege. Dale loved history and had just written the manuscript to his first historical novel and was eager about the publishing progress. Dale could be found attending the athletic events of all his grandchildren--giving much of his time in following Rich, Cokeville and Bear Lake school activities. He died a wealthy man, exalted by the jewels those grandkids placed in his crown. The loftiest kings and nobleman couldn't have enjoyed life any better than he did.
Dale is survived by his beloved wife, Pamela, son, Kevin (Stephanie), their children, Kaylee (Paul) Clark, Brittney, Morgan and Shanaya, son Lyn (Heidi) Weston and their children, Linda, Whitley, Porter and Madyson, daughter, June Marie (Mikel) Saxton and their children, Shannyn (Cody) Davis, Casey, Elder Justyn Saxton and Thane. He is also survived by his dear mother, Marie Weston and sisters, Carolyn (Ted) Davidson and Anita Weston.
He was preceded in death by his father, Ben E Weston.
Funeral Services will be held March 29 at noon at the Cokeville Chapel. A viewing will start that morning at 10 am and a Monday night viewing will be held in Cokeville from 6 to 8 pm.
