Jeanne Cuddy Fox, age 91 of New Milford, wife of Alfred H. Fox Sr., died peacefully at home surrounded by her family on Wednesday September 4, 2013. Mrs. Fox was born October 15, 1921 in New Milford CT, a daughter of the late William J. Sr. and Lena Reynolds Cuddy. She attended Saint Francis Xavier Elementary School, New Milford High School, Crandall Secretarial School in Danbury, CT, and received an Associate's Degree in Business from Bay Path College in Springfield, MA. Jeanne was an active member of Saint Francis Xavier Church, past member of the Confraternity of the Rosary, a volunteer at the Thrift Mart of New Milford for over 15 years, and was a lifelong resident of New Milford. She was a skilled seamstress who enjoyed fashion and interior decorating. Her joy in life was to create and maintain a beautiful and loving home for her family. Jeanne maintained an interest in her Irish heritage and in 1997 took her first flight to attend the wedding of her niece in County Mayo, Ireland, then spent several weeks touring the country with her family. Although generally a homebody, at the age of 90 she expressed an interest in traveling once more to "follow the sun," and spent the winter months with her family on the Florida coast, which she greatly enjoyed.
In addition to her husband of 66 years, Mrs. Fox is survived by three sons: Alfred H. Fox Jr. of Southbury, CT, Jon Fox and Thomas Fox both of New Milford, CT; three daughters: Cynthia Fox of Morgantown, WV, Linda White of Susanville, CA and Suzanne Fox of Bantam, CT; a sister Marilyn Swanson of Southbury, CT; eleven grandchildren; two great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her son Timothy Fox, infant daughters Phyllis and Mary Fox, two brothers James and William Cuddy, and a sister Phyllis Cuddy.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday, September 10, 2013 at 11:00 at Saint Francis Xavier Church, New Milford, CT. Burial will immediately follow at Saint Francis Xavier Cemetery, New Milford, CT.
Family will receive friends in the Colonial Funeral Home, 87 Park Lane Rd, New Milford, CT from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM Tuesday morning.
