Veteran: World War II
Enlisted:
27 APR 1942 in Rochester, NY
32139453

U.S. Army Air Corps
B-17 Crewman
Waist gunner (.50 M2)
European Theatre of Operations (ETO)
Bomber Crewman on five (5) missions

Damaged:
The B-17 Flying Fortress he and his crew flew in received significant damage from enemy gunfire, fighter planes and flak. In an attempt to make it back to England, the pilot ordered the crew to jettison what they could to lighten the load on what few engines remained. Eventually the crew was ordered to bail out. The plane was able to make it back to England.

Behind enemy lines:
A French family hid Cisco under their porch for several days. He gave the father his parachute. It would be used as part of his daughter's wedding gown. The family cared for and fed him the best they could. The area was crawling with German troops. Knowing he had to head South, Cisco kept moving. At one point, he came across a woodsman carrying equipment. He grabbed ahold of a saw and tried to blend in as troops moved through the town. After turning a corner, a small patrol caught up with him. "For you, the war is over." Cisco never knew what became of the family that hid him from the Nazis.

Taken Prisoner of War (POW):
ID No. 1523, Camp 091
Held captive by Nazi forces for 15 months. Several times he and his fellow prisoners were moved around by the Nazis to keep from being found. Liberated on or about 08FEB1944.
