Johanna Colsch immigrated from Germany to Iowa in 1885. She was following in the footsteps of her uncle, Nickolas Colsch, and her siblings, John (Nick) Colsch and Margaretha Fink. In April of 1888, she married John Andrew Schulte. Together, they had six children and lived on a farm in Waterloo Township near Dorchester, Iowa. She suffered respiratory problems for at least 6 years prior to dying in May 1901.
Lansing Journal (May 15, 1901) - On Saturday, May 11, at her home in Dorchester occured the death of Mr. J. Schulte. Deceased died of Asthma.
