Mother of Isaac Logan Woods, Father Unknown, 18775913
Wife of Robert Curry, Married Jan 30, 1833, Mercer County, KY

ARTIMECIA (HILL) CURRY

Artimecia Hill was born in Mercer County, Ky., August 6, 1813. Was married to Robert Curry, January 30, 1833. She died November 6, 1893, in the home of her son, Samuel N. Curry, southwest of Greenwood, her age being 80 years and 3 months.

Her husband died May 19, 1856. It is reported he was a good man. To this union were born five sons and five daughters. There are at present four sons and four daughters living.

The writer was years ago in Whiteland acquainted with and almost daily met the deceased and enjoyed many happy hours in her company. She was jovial, kind and true, a good mother and grandmother, a genuine Kentuckian, and a Christian, being a Baptist in faith. She moved to Johnson County with her fatherless children in August 1859, rearing, battling with stern realities of life and doing the denying self, paying working as only a true mother can. We have not a doubt but her soul rests in the Celestial City, and it behooves her children, if not already done, to get ready to meet mother. The funeral sermon was preached by Rev. Gardiner, of Franklin, at 11 o'clock, Wednesday, in the home of Samuel N. Curry and the remains were laid to rest in the Hopewell Cemetery.
