Sherri (Seward) Carter, 52, passed away Thursday, September 5, 2013 at High Point Regional Hospital. She was the loving wife of the late Charles Randall Carter.

Mrs. Carter was born on June 6, 1961 in High Point, a daughter of Joyce (Backley) Carter of High Point, and the late Johnny George Seward. She was a graduate of Alleghany High School in Sparta, NC and attended G.T.C.C. for two years.

In her spare time she enjoyed volunteering at the High Point Museum, where she was a tour guide and sat on the Board of Trustees; reading, traveling to the beach and mountains, spending time and barbequing with family and friends, and taking care of her pets.

Mrs. Carter is survived by two sons, Adam C. Carter and his partner, Christopher L. Headrick of Manassas, VA, and Eric R. Carter of Titusville, FL; a sister, Lorinda S. Cox and her husband, Roger of Trinity; two nephews, Steven D. Cox and his wife, Megan, and Matthew D. Cox all of Greensboro; a niece, Amanda D. Cox of Boone; her companion, Mark Wilson of Thomasville; a stepfather, Nathan Carter of High Point, and her beloved dog, Duke.

A celebration of life graveside service will be 2:00 p.m. Sunday, September 8, 2013 at Floral Garden Memorial Park with Rev. Gayle Ford officiating. A visitation will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday at Cumby Family Funeral Service, 206 Trindale Road, Archdale.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the High Point Museum, 1859 East Lexington Avenue, High Point, NC 27262.
