Juanita Pfahler, age 70, resident of Shelby passed away at her home Friday, September 6, 2013 surrounded by her loving family.

Born July 15, 1943 in Morehead, Kentucky to William and Mary (Jones) Alfrey she had been a Shelby resident the majority of her life.

Juanita was a member of the Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church and the Shelby Hospital Guild. An avid book reader, she enjoyed working jigsaw puzzles, birdwatching and being with her family.

Survivors include three daughters, Nancy (Larry) Clawson, Jo Ann (John) Inscho, and Janice Tackett (John Omweg, Jr.), all of Shelby; one son, Charles Pfahler of Shelby; eight grandchildren, Joshua (Brittney) Tackett, Julie Tackett, Beth (Daniel) Chapman, Jarrod Clawson, Sabrina Inscho, Andrew Inscho, Audrey Pfahler, and Aaron Pfahler; one great grandson, Wyatt Chapman; two brothers, Bill Alfrey of Shelby, Bob (Linda) Alfrey of Plymouth; her sister, Betty Alfrey of Morehead, KY; half brother, Chalmer (Sandy) Hall of Crestline; her sister-in-law, Jan (Jim) Magers of Shelby; nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Pfahler on Sept. 15, 2010.

Funeral services will be held 10:30 AM Monday, September 9, 2013 at the Barkdull Funeral Home in Shelby. Father Jim Sanford will officiate with interment in Oakland Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home Sunday from 4:00 to 7:00 PM. Memorial expressions may be made to the Marvin Memorial Library or Shelby Helpline Ministries.
