Albert M. Reed -- Steel vice president: Newspaper Obituary and Death Notice
Steel vice president Albert M[o]unt Reed, 86, of Kirkland Village in Bethlehem, died Monday, Oct. 19, in the home.
He was elected vice president at Bethlehem Steel Corp. on Feb. 1, 1965. He joined the firm in 1936 as a member of the Loop Course and was assigned to the accounting department. Five years later he was named an administrative assistant in the department, in 1955 named assistant to the comptroller, in 1956 assistant comptroller and on Nov. 1, 1963, named comptroller and a director of the company.
Born in Hopewell, N.J., he was a son of the late Wilfred and Cora Slocum Reed.
He was a member of Hopewell United Methodist Church in Hopewell
He graduated from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania with a bachelor's degree in economics and while at the university was elected to Beta Gamma Sigma, an honorary scholastic fraternity.
His first wife, the former Ruth Hullfish, died earlier.
He is survived by his second wife, the former Emma L. Livirrie.
Services will be private at the convenience of the family. Calling will be private. The Connell Funeral Home, 245 E. Broad St., Bethlehem, is in charge of arrangements.
Burial will be in Holy Saviour Cemetery in Bethlehem.
