MIDDLETOWN - Josephine G. Hess, 76, most affectionately known as "Bingo Jo" was taken home suddenly to her new eternal life on Saturday from her residence.

She was a member of the Seven Sorrows of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church in Middletown.

She retired from the Harrisburg City Treasurers Office as a head cashier after 14 years of service. Most lovingly respected by her family as "Nan", she was the caregiver for everyone she loved. She lived life for her family and cared for everyone in her own special way through cooking and baking special treats. She loved to make her friends and family feel special.

Josephine was predeceased by her husband and one son, Gene N. Hess and Gene N. Hess, Jr.

Nan leaves behind her 3 beautiful daughters who were her guardian angels of mercy, Carol A. Reed of Mechanicsburg, Joann Potts, wife of the late Henry Potts of Harrisburg, and Elizabeth Shull, wife of Edward Shull of Middletown; a brother, Louis Cairo, husband of Hilda Cairo of Michigan; seven grandchildren, Christopher Reed, Edward L. Shull, Patrick Martin, Shawn Reed, Nicole Remsburg, Matthew Shull and Dan Quackenbush; 11 great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.
