Jean Reid Farmer, 90, of 1400 block of West Main Street Extended, Elizabeth City, NC died Tuesday, August 19, 2014 at her residence. A lifelong resident of Elizabeth City, she was the daughter of the late George Erwin Reid and Fannie Casey Reid and the widow of Douglas “Tick” Farmer after fifty-eight years of marriage. She was a graduate of Elizabeth City High School and East Carolina University. She was a member of Blackwell Memorial Baptist Church, Joy Club, Elizabeth City Chapter #44 Order of Easter Star, Ladies Shriners, and the She Devil’s Fishing Team. She was an avid fisherman and gardener.
She is survived by a daughter, Diane Phelps and husband Gary of Roper, NC; a brother, Dr. Charles Reid and wife Jean of Clewiston, FL; a grandson Michael Caddy of Greenville, NC and great grandson, Benjamin Caddy; a granddaughter, Sydney Williams of Clayton, NC, and grandson Hunter Williams and wife Rynah, and granddaughter Emily Williams and great-great granddaughter Jenna Blair Williams.
A memorial service will be Friday, August 22, 2014 at Blackwell Memorial Baptist Church with the Rev. Don Carter officiating. Burial will be in West Lawn Cemetery.
