Benjamin Frederick Myers was born in Riceville, Iowa on December 16, 1933 to Lloyd and Dorothy Metz Myers. He attended country schools. He served his country in the US Army. On April 12, 1955 he was united in marriage to Velda Kapka at St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Riceville.
Ben worked for White Farm Equipment in Charles City for 34 years. He enjoyed farming and was a dump truck driver. Ben passed away at the Mitchell County Regional Health Center in Osage, Iowa on Saturday, August 31, 2013
Survivors include his wife, Velda of Riceville; son David of Riceville; daughter Mary Bennett (Steve) of Mazeppa, MN; three grandchildren and one great granddaughter. Also surviving are 4 brothers: Bill (Inga) of Kalispell, MT, Lloyd (Cheri) of Lake City, MN, Larry of Fargo, ND and Gary (Liz) of Grantsburg, WI; 5 sisters: Eleanor Leonard of Forest Lake, MN, Barbara (Harold) Burfeind of Lake City, MN, Bernita (Don) Reinhardt of Kalispell, MT, Connie Minnick of Red Wing, MN; and Donna Klennert of Lake City, MN.
Ben was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter Lea Ann, brothers: George, Gordon, and Fred and a sister Linda Vining.
Visitation: 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Wednesday, September 4, 2013 At Lindstrom Funeral Home in Riceville, Iowa, and for an hour prior to services at the church.
