He graduated from Hot Springs High School and served in the 101st Airborne Division. While in the service, he met and married Anne Lanier. They had two children,a daughter and a son.

Glen and his bride Dotsy lived every day to the fullest. They enjoyed rafting, camping and laughs in their abundant life together. He loved riding his Harley on a sunny day.
Glen was preceded in death by his first wife, Anne; his parents; and a brother, John Welch Jr. He is survived by Dotsy, 11 children and 18 grandchildren.
