STERLING, VA. - Maria Rosenda De Los Santos Turner passed away on Thursday, Aug. 22, 2013, due to heart failure. She lived in Sterling, VA, with her family. She is survived by daughters Melissa Roberson and Consuelo Scott, son-in-law Dane Scott, grandchildren Martin Roberson Jr., Marisol Scott, and Makai Scott, sister Elba Acuna, and brother Santos De Los Santos. Maria was born June 18, 1941, in Rio Grande City, Texas. She moved to Lakeland, FL, in 1965, where she spent 30 years teaching special needs children at Oscar J. Pope Elementary School. After retiring in 2000, she decided to help raise her youngest grandchildren and followed their family up and down the east coast. A viewing will be held at Lakeland Funeral Home, 125 Bartow Road, Lakeland from 5-7 pm on Thursday, Aug. 29. The memorial service will be held Friday at St. Anthony's Catholic Church, 820 Marcum Road, Lakeland at 8:30 am and she will be laid to rest shortly after at Lakeland Memorial Gardens, 125 Bartow Road, Lakeland. -
