Raymond J. Chauvin, 84, of 107 Union St. died Wed. Oct. 19 at Lydia Taft House after an illness. His wife of 54 years Cecile J. (Houle) Chauvin died March 1, 2002. He is survived by 3 sons Raymond A. Chauvin of Linwood, Mark A. and his wife Cathy Chauvin of Uxbridge, and Claude C. and his wife Barbara-Jean Chauvin of Whitinsville; 3 grandsons Neil A. and his wife Linda Chauvin of Worcester, Evan M. Chauvin and Zachary B. Chauvin both of Uxbridge; 2 great-grandsons Ty and Brett; a brother Wilfred Larry Chauvin of Whitinsville; a sister Theresa and her husband Bernard Boover of Linwood; and many nephews and nieces. Born in Acushnet, MA on Jan. 10, 1927 he was the son of Antoine and Marie Louise (Goudreau) Chauvin and lived in Linwood most of his life. Mr. Chauvin worked as a machinist for the former Whitin Machine Works in Whitinsville for 20 years. He then worked at Fenwall Co. in Ashland for 20 years, retiring when he was 62. Raymond also owned and operated Linwood Motors, selling cars throughout the area for 30 years. He was educated in the Northbridge public school system and was a U.S. Navy WWII veteran serving at the Chelsea Naval Hospital as a Pharmacists Mate. He loved to rebuild and restore antique automobiles, particularly the Model A. Ray also loved taking bus trips with his wife after he retired. He will be remembered as a family man with a nice sense of humor who loved being around his family. He was a member of Good Shepherd Church. His funeral will be held Mon. Oct. 24 from Jackman Funeral Home, 12 Spring St. Whitinsville with a Mass at 10 a.m. in Good Shepherd Church, 121 Linwood St., Linwood. Burial will follow in St. Marys Cemetery. Calling hours at the funeral home in Whitinsville are Sun. Oct. 23 from 4 to 8 p.m. Donations may be made to Good Shepherd Church, box 517, Linwood, MA 01525.
