Actor. Born in England, he was a stage performer when he moved to New York City in 1920 and started acting in Broadway plays. By the 1930s, he was in Hollywood and was noted for his impersonations of famous figures of the time. He is best remembered for his impersonator role of Will Rogers in the films "The Great Ziegfeld" (1936), which won the Oscar for Best Picture, and "You're a Sweetheart" (1937).
