Obituary :- "Reverend Frederick John Bauerschmidt Jr. passed away, peacefully, on January 17, 2013, at the age of 88, in Jacksonville, FL. He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Ruth Caroline Bauerschmidt; two daughters, Patricia of Oregon and Dianne of New Jersey; two brothers, Alan and Mike Bauerschmidt; five grandchildren and one great granddaughter expected soon. He fought with the Air Force during WWII. He was shot down over Germany, was a POW and escaped after a year. Fred was a teacher and principal in the Baldwin School System for 30 years. Then he became a pastor for the Church Of The Redeemer Episcopal Church in Merrick, NY. He also trained to be an EMT and chaplain in the Poconos in Pennsylvania. He was dearly loved and a kind, compassionate, loving man. He had an amazing life and we are all so blessed to have had him in our lives. . A visitation will be held from 10:00-12:00, Wednesday, January 23, 2013 at Hardage-Giddens Edgewood Chapel. A funeral mass will be held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, January 23, 2013 at St. John's Episcopal Cathedral 256 East Church St., Jacksonville, Florida 32202. In lieu of flowers, donation can be made to the Disabled American Veterans in honor of Frederick Bauerschmidt"
