John Christ Jahnke, age 91, born April 22, 1916, passed away on Wednesday, June 13, 2007 and was preceded in death by his wife, Gertrude. He is survived by a daughter, Cheryl Pinkley and husband Lyle and their children John Pinkley and wife Rebecca and Rinda Hall and husband Rick; and a son, Collin, and his daughters: Jessica, Amanda, Brandee and Christina; all of Searcy. Other surviving children are: Jeanette Hobelman and husband Ken of Nebraska; Arna Farabee and husband Art and Kevin Jahnke and wife Patricia of Oklahoma; and Lynn Jahnke and wife Karen of Iowa. He is also survived by ten other grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren, as well as three surviving sisters, all of West Point, Nebraska.

John was a member of Our Shepherd Lutheran Church and throughout his life served his Lord with gladness. He enjoyed singing, playing sports and watching his family members as they played, and was enjoyed for his good sense of humor.

A memorial service to celebrate his life will be held at Our Shepherd Lutheran Church on Saturday, June 16, 2007 at 10:00 a.m. The family requests no flowers be sent, memorials may be made to the church or to your local Hospice in response to the service they provided to ease his last days.
