She was the second child of 11 children born to Mason Wesley and Olivia May Garrett.

Polly married Herbert Marshall Adams Jun 1929 in Arkansas. They had three children. Twin sons David Lee Adams and Paul Marshall Adams born 27 Aug 1930 in Pulaski County, Arkansas. David Lee Adams died 10 Feb 1937 in Little Rock, Pulaski County, Arkansas and his twin brother Paul Marshall Adams died 29 Feb 1960 in Los Angeles County, California. They also had a daughter Betty Jo Adams born 21 Jul 1934 in Pulaski County, Arkansas and died 30 Jan 2011 in Albuquerque, Bernalillo, New Mexico.

In 1930 just after Polly and Herbert were married she was working as a Nurse at Arkansas State Hospital for Nervous Diseases, Pulaski, Arkansas. Herbert also worked at the State Hospital as a truck driver.

Their son David Lee Adams died at age 6 years in February 1937 in Arkansas. David had Measles and then got Pneumonia.

They were still living in Pulaski, Arkansas and working for the Arkansas State Hospital in 1940.

Sometime between 1940 and 1941 they moved to San Bernardino, California. "Polly" was a Nurse at the Patton State Hospital in San Bernardino, California.

In the 60's they had a turkey ranch in the Mojave Desert near Lancaster, California. They later sold the ranch and moved into the city of Lancaster, California.
