"Port Leyden - Clifford Ward, 58, died Dec. 4, 1945, in Lewis County General Hospital, where he had been a patient three days.
He was born Sept. 2, 1887, in Watson, son of James and Emma Johnson Ward. He was a barber by trade and previously worked in Boonville and Lowville. He operated a barber shop in this village for the past 30 years.
He was a member of Boonville Odd Fellows Lodge and the Miller Brook Fish and Game Club.
He is survived by his wife, the former Bertha Scoville; three sons, Alfred, John and Leonard, also a daughter, Florence; two brothers, Bert of Lowville, and Vincent of Utica.
Funeral will be held at 1:45 in his home and at 2 p.m. from the Congregational Church. The Rev. Edmund Janne officiating. The Port Leyden Lodge, F&AM will conduct its services in the church.
The body will remain in the Gould Memorial Chapel until spring when interment will take place in Port Leyden Cemetery."
