Elizabeth Ann (Stockdale) Ferrell was born on June 24, 1928 in Paducah, Kentucky and raised in Marion, Tennessee. She was the daughter of Delma May (Morrison) Stockdale (1902-1984) and her 1st husband James Lester Stockdale (1898-1929). [NOTE: Although her obituary states that she was the daughter of Vernon [Roe] Stockdale, that is incorrect: Elizabeth IS the daughter of James Lester Stockdale who was married to Delma in 1925 and died in 1929. Delma went on to marry Vernon about 1934. Vernon was a brother of James, and Elizabeth was raised by Vernon as his own daughter.]
Elizabeth was married on March 3, 1949 to Gwin Calvin Ferrell (1928-1995), the son of Howard K Ferrell (1908-1956) and Mary Angieline "Angie" (McCollom) (Hayes) Ferrell (1910-1994).
She received her Education degree from APSU where she was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma Sorority.
After serving 37 years as an educator, she retired in 1995 from the Cheatham County School System where she was Principal of West Cheatham Elementary School.
Elizabeth lived in Ashland City from 1958 until 2010, and most recently at The Cumberland for two and a half years.
A member of Ashland City United Methodist Church, Elizabeth was 83 years old and a resident of Ashland City when she passed away on February 24, 2012 at Alive Hospice in Nashville.
She was preceded in death by her husband Gurin C Ferrell, son David Ferrell and be her siblings Marjorie (Stockdale) Marlow (1926-2010), James "Lester" Stockdale (1930-1995) and Aubrey Earl Stockdale (1945-1996). Survivors included a married son; a married daughter; two brothers in Marion; three sisters; seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Burial was in Marion United Methodist Church Cemetery in Montgomery County with her husband.
