Visitation with family and friends will be held from 6 to 8 P.M., Friday, September 6, 2013, in the Chapel at Dutton Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 10 A.M., Saturday, September 7, 2013, at Faith Baptist Church in Iowa Park, with Rev. Dennis Neal, officiating. Burial will follow in Highland Cemetery, Iowa Park, under the direction of Dutton Funeral Home.
Gary was born October 15, 1940 in Littlefield, Texas. He lived in the Wichita and Archer County areas all of his life. He married Gayle Hart on October 26, 1963, in Hallsville, Texas. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Kamay, Texas, where he served as a deacon. He was the first Cowboy mascot for Hardin Simmons and held a degree in theology and teaching. He taught school for 24 years, with the first year in Valley View and retired from Iowa Park CISD after 23 years. He taught building trades and through the school built houses in Iowa Park. Gary loved the outdoors, riding horses and ranching, and loved spending time with his family. He was preceded in death by his father, Howard Lyles, and a brother, Mike Fox.
Survivors include his wife, Gayle (Hart) Lyles; daughter, Cindy Lyles; and son, Scott Lyles and wife, Connie, all of Iowa Park; four sisters, Virginia Brown, Jo Harden, Pattye Graham and Cheri Diprey; brother, Dewayne Fox; seven grandchildren, Kaci and husband, Nick, Kyle and wife, Michelle, Kaitlyn and husband, Curtis, Payton, Karli, Reid and Riley; and 3 great grandchildren, Halli, Jaxon and Kruz.
