Charles L. "Smoky" Albertson, 98, of Orchard Street, Berwick, died Tuesday, Sept. 3, 2013, at the home of his grandson, Steven J. Baylor, and his wife, Mary.
Born Oct. 28, 1914, in Fowlersville, he was the son of the late Orval and Minnie (Bidding) Albertson.
In his early years, he was employed by AC&F from 1945-1949, and also did part-time well-drilling. He then worked for the Local 404 International Association of Bridge, Structural, and Ornamental Iron Workers Union from 1969-1970. He retired in 1980 from the Local 524 Pipe Fitters/Steam Fitters Union at the Bechtel Bell Bend Plant.
Among his interests were hunting, collecting antiques and traps, bear and deer hunting, reading, and farming. He was a part-time guide in New Brunswick.
He was a former member of St. Gabriel's Episcopal Church in Benton, and a current member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Berwick.
Preceding him in death were his wife of 62 years, the former Catherine M. Grotkowski; granddaughter, Karen Baylor; a sister, Jean Glasser; and a brother, Donald Albertson.
Surviving are his daughter, Patricia Baylor, Nescopeck; his son, Glenn C. Albertson, and his wife, Gail, of Hunlock Creek; seven grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; and his brother, Glenn Orval Albertson, of Phoenixville.
A visitation will be held Friday, Sept. 6, 2013, from 9 a.m. until the time of the Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 1730 Fowler Ave., Berwick, with the Rev. Francis J. Tamburro, his pastor, officiating.
Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Berwick.
