GEORGE F. ACRED, 85, of Memphis, retired carpenter, died of respiratory failure Tuesday at Baptist Memorial Hospital-DeSoto in Southaven. Graveside services will be at 2:30 p.m. Friday in Memorial Park. Memorial Park Funeral Home has charge.

He was a member of Decatur Trinity Christian Church, the American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars, a 32nd degree Mason, a Scoutmaster and a World War II Army veteran.

Mr. Acred, the husband of Mary E. Acred, also leaves three sons, George F. Acred III and Robert T. Acred, both of Bartlett, and William B. Acred of Nesbit; two sisters, Virginia Ferguson and Florence Acred, both of Memphis, 10 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. The family requests that memorials be sent to American Alzheimer Association.
