Edward Eugene Whitfield, age 78, of Rocky Face, passed away Tuesday, September 3, 2013 at his residence.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Troy & Madge Whitfield; sister, Daphene Carden.
He was a member of Ringgold First Baptist Church. He was the choir director at Rocky Face Baptist for 12 years and Minister of Music for 24 years at Tunnel Hill First Baptist.
He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Peggy Green Whitfield of the residence; sons and daughters-in-law, Michael E. & Jean Whitfield of Tunnel Hill and Mark E. & Mary Whitfield of Rocky Face; grandchildren, Ananias & Erikka Whitfield, Josiah & Jane Whitfield and Jessica Rose Whitfield; great-grandchildren, Trysten, Josiah and Benaiah; uncle, J. B. Whitfield; nieces and nephews.
The funeral service to honor the life of Mr. Whitfield will be held Thursday, September 5, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at Ringgold First Baptist Church with Rev. John Davis and Rev. Dewey Boyd officiating.
Burial will be in Tunnel Hill Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the Westside Chapel of Julian Peeples Funeral Home on Wednesday from 5:00 pm until 9:00 p.m.
Flowers will be accepted or memorial contribution may be made to American Cancer Society.
