A graduate of J. P. McCaskey High School, he enjoyed roller skating and attending local fairs earlier in life. Jerry worked in the power house at Armstrong World Industries, Lancaster, for 36 years. He enjoyed dining at new restaurants, quiet time at home, reading his Bible and worshipping with TV evangelists. Jerry loved his sheep dogs, Sophie, Maggie and Max, who he has joined in Heaven.
Surviving in addition to his wife Eva, are his son, Gerald L. McCracken, husband of Desiree, Strasburg; step-daughter, Donna J., wife of Steven E. Metzger, Lititz; 6 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren; and his brother, William McCracken, husband of Earla, of Woodcrest Villa. Jerry was preceded in death by his siblings, Jean Aument, Katherine Allen, Donald McCracken and a brother who died early in life.
The Funeral will take place 11 AM, Friday, September 6, 2013, at the Charles F. Snyder Jr. Funeral Home & Crematory, 3110 Lititz Pike, Lititz, PA, with Rev. Mark J. Thiboldeaux officiating. A Viewing will take place 10-11 AM at the funeral home. Interment in Sadsbury Friends Burial Ground. Please omit flowers.
