Emily Knudtson, 88, Dickinson, died Tuesday, September 3, 2013 at the CountryHouse, Dickinson. A funeral service/memorial gathering for Emily will be at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, September 7, 2013 at Ladbury Funeral Service, Dickinson, with Fr. Todd Kreitinger presiding. Inurnment will follow at St. Joseph's Cemetery, Dickinson. Visitation will be on Friday from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m., at Ladbury Funeral Service.

Emily Hecker was born October 14, 1924 in Dickinson, the daughter of Louie M. and Christina (Heinz) Hecker. She was raised on the family farm near Fairfield.

On October 14, 1955, Emily married James O. Knudtson. They lived in various locations until 1967, when they moved to the Knudtson family farm near Fairfield. There Emily was a farm wife, who enjoyed baking, canning and crafts. Painting ceramics was her favorite. James and Emily resided on the farm until 2002 when they retired and moved to Dickinson. She has remained in Dickinson, with the past few years as a resident of the CountryHouse.

Emily was a loving wife, Mother, and sister. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, James on July 15, 2005; two brothers, Andrew and Anton Hecker; and three sisters, Anna Obritsch, Elizabeth Hartinger, and Monica Sobo.

Emily is survived by her daughter, Dixie (Ernie) Simnioniw, Dickinson; brother, Raymond Hecker, Fairfield; sister, Frances Traver, Thompson Falls, Mont.; sister-in-law, Victoria Hecker, Dickinson; and several nieces and nephews.
