Born on Sept. 19, 1941 in Albany, she was the daughter of Frederick and Illean Stark, who predeceased her. She attended the former Vincentian Institute for both primary and secondary school and graduated in 1959. Jan then began working for the NYS Department of Audit and Control, first as a Key Punch Operator and then a Supervisor. In 1964, she began the part of her life she was most proud of, becoming a mother. Jan took great pride in raising her children and acting as a loving caregiver to many other family members and friends. Some of her happiest moments were spent watching her children and grandchildren grow and flourish.
Jan spent many hours volunteering at The Church of the Blessed Sacrament. She was a Eucharistic Minister, a member of the parish council and helped in any way that was needed. Her favorite volunteer effort was working at the Church Food Pantry.
She is survived by her husband of 49 years Sylvester (Bud) Delaney with whom she would have celebrated her Golden Anniversary on September 21st; her 3 children Kathleen Hoffman (Joseph) of Slingerlands, Jack Delaney (Lynn) of Selkirk and Brendan Delaney (Laura Hallar) of Albany; 5 grandchildren Joseph and Elizabeth Hoffman of Slingerlands and Erin, Matthew and Shannon Delaney of Selkirk. Her siblings, Donald Stark (Connie) of Hartford CT., Barbara Durrick (David) of Latham, NY, and Robert Stark (Vanessa) of Little River, SC, as well as many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Jan was also predeceased by her niece Susan Stark Vincek.
