Grace Lucille Bates, age 81 of Springfield, Tennessee, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, August 21, 2013.

She was born in Wewoka, Oklahoma on September 1, 1931 to the late Herman and Lillian West Dunning.

Mrs. Bates is also preceded in death by her husband, James Cicero Bates; son, Richard Wayne Edens, Sr.; three brothers and a sister.

She is survived by her daughter, Lori Ann (Tommy) Hale; grandchildren, Richard Wayne Edens, Jr., Tammy (Dennis) Bennett and Zachary Gibson. Three great-grandchildren also survive.

Mrs. Bates was retired from the Metropolitan Public Schools as a bus driver. She was a volunteer at Skyline Medical Center for eight-and-a-half years, and was a faithful member of the Goodlettsville Church of the Nazarene for forty years.

Her family will receive friends from 4 p-.m. until 8 p.m. on Friday, August 23 and on Saturday, August 24 from 9 a.m. until her Celebration of Life service at 11 a.m. from the Chapel of Spring Hill Funeral Home. Services will be conducted by Rev. Max Jones.

Pallbearers will include Tommy Hale, Zack Gibson, Richard Edens, Jr., Bob Mayfield, Paul Henderson and Morris Filson.

Honorary pallbearers will be Everett Hanner, John Carpenter, Sam Embrey, Morris Lawson, Bob Wilson and Hulan Sanders.

Interment will be in Historic Spring Hill Cemetery.
