Earl C. Benner, 72, died at 5:30 PM Saturday, July 18, 1987, in St. Vincent's Hospital, Indianapolis, where he had been a patient since June 9, following three-months of ill health. Born Aug. 9, 1914, at Earl Park, he had spent the past 38 years in Lafayette, moving here from Goodland.

Mr. Benner had been a building inspector for the city of Lafayette. He formerly was a carpenter and had worked out of Carpenters Local Union 215 for 34 years, retiring in 1977. He was a member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church, Eagles 347, and Carpenters Local Union 215.

His marriage was July 27, 1946, at Logansport, to Wilma Lucile Medley, who survives along with two daughters, Sandra (Mrs. Jerry) Ohrberg of Irvine, CA, and Mary Ann (Mrs. Thomas) Hocker of Hanover, PA; two sons, Chris Benner of Lafayette and Patrick Benner of Gainesville, FL; three sisters, Mrs. Polly Kline, Agnes (Mrs. Fred) Bennett, both of Lafayette, and Mrs. Agatha Bower of Kentland; one brother, Carl Benner of Goodland; and nine grandchildren. He was predeceased by four brothers and three sisters.
