Lloyd Peter (Pete) Jansky, age 60, of Sierra Vista, Ariz., died at home on Tuesday, February 17, 1998, after a long struggle with cancer.

A memorial service was held on Friday, February 27, 1998, at Our Lady of the Mountains Church in Sierra Vista. Father Bob Bryerton officiated.

Pete was born May 21, 1937, in Manitowoc, Wisc., son of John and Anna (Stransky) Jansky. He attended the University of Wisconsin, earning a master's degree in Education. He taught in Oak Park, Ill., before moving to Boulder, Colo., where he served as a teacher and as athletic director at Fairview High School.

On July 5, 1993, he and Patricia Maki Stoor were married in Manitowoc.

When Pete retired because of illness in 1994, he was a sales representative covering the western states out of Vancouver, Wash., for the Bookhouse of Jonesville, Mich.

Pete was a United States Army veteran.

Pete genuinely liked people and made lasting friendships wherever he lived and traveled. His greatest pleasure was in lending a helping hand to anyone who had need. Pete was an avid runner and ran in many races throughout the West. He was a devoted father and dearly loved his children and grandchildren. He love life, and he touched the hearts of all who knew him.
