Reed Spivey, 90, of Jonesville, VA passed away on Tuesday, September 3, 2013 at Wellmont Lee Regional Medical Center.
He was born on August 29, 1923 in Jonesville to the late William "Bill" Spivey and Julia Bowmen Spivey. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Ralph, Harry and Billy Spivey, and by two sisters, Opal Leonard and Lizzy Delph.
He Is survived by five sons, Roger Spivey and wife Carlene of Jonesville, Jack Spivey and wife Jackie of Ben Hur, Wayne Spivey and wife Heather of TX, Eddie Spivey and wife Elaine of Jonesville and Freddie Spivey of Jonesville; one sister, Jean Sproles of Mendota, VA; 18 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6 until 8:00 p.m. Thursday, September 5, 2013 at Robinette Funeral Home in Jonesville. The funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, September 6, at Fleenor's Chapel Church with Rev. Butch Clemm officiating. The committal service and interment will follow in Spivey Cemetery.
