Carl J. "Red" Rigli, 92, lifelong area resident, died Thursday, August 29, 2013at his home south of Fort Morgan.

Carl was born March 2, 1921to Ernold and Julia (Fabish) Rigli in a sod house in Shamrock.

Carl served his country in the United States Army during WW II. During his tenure in the Army he was the jeep driver for Captain Snyder in the 94th Infantry Division and also drove for General Patton.

He married Lorraine A. Mattive on June 17, 1947 in Brighton. She died in 2012.

Carl was a rancher and was known for his branding skills. He enjoyed gardening and hunting and skinning coyotes. He would sell the coyote hides to help make ends meet.

Survivors include, one daughter, Julie Frink and husband Tom of Ft. Morgan, two sons, Joe Rigli and his close friend Eva Graham of Ft. Morgan, and Jimmy Rigli and wife Linda of LaSalle, grandchildren, Heather Knighton and her close friend Patches Hallock of Casper, Wyoming, Shawn Frink and wife Trinnette of Loveland, and great grandchildren, Alex and Trevor Knighton and Maddy and Bronson Frink.

Carl was preceded in death by his wife Lorraine, sisters, Helen Parker, Mary Binns, Anna Fedorcio, and Julia Kline, brothers, Paul, Ernest, John, George and Bill Rigli, and his parents.

There will be a visitation on Thursday, September 5, 2013, from 4 until 7 PM at the Heer Mortuary in Ft. Morgan. A Rosary Vigil will follow at 7 PM at the mortuary.

Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday, September 6, 2013 at 10:00 AM at Saint Helena's Catholic Church in Ft. Morgan. Burial will follow in Memory Gardens.

Friends who wish may make memorial gifts to either Colorado Caring Companions of Brush or to the Hospice of North Colorado in Greeley.
