Elizabeth Delores "Bette" Benton was born May 7, 1927 at Sacred Heart, near Konawa, Oklahoma, the daughter of Frances Edward and Grace Canfield Higdon. She attended school at Sacred Heart and graduated from St. Benedict. She married Elbert Joseph Benton in June of 1948.

Mrs. Benton was a public accountant who owned and operated Benton's Tax Service, and was also co-owner of Benton-Chandler, Inc. She also had a broker license and enjoyed showing and selling property. With her late husband, they owned several rental properties and enjoyed the friendship of their tenants.

She was a member of St. Benedict Catholic Church. Her enjoyments included cooking, sewing, entering contests and sweepstakes, which she often won! She also enjoyed playing bingo and casino games.

Preceded in death by her parents, husband, a daughter, Cheryl Ann Benton, two brothers, Frances Edward Higdon Jr., and Raymond Joseph Higdon and a sister, Lorene Higdon Williams. She is survived by her son Elbert Joseph Benton, Jr. and wife Mary of Shawnee; Jane Williams Warren and husband William, a niece that she helped raise; and several nieces, nephews, other family and friends.

Rosary services will be 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 4 at Walker Funeral Service Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday, September 5 at St. Benedict Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
