In Memory of
Joshua Matthew Thornton
June 14, 2002 ~ September 1, 2013

Joshua Matthew Thornton, 11, went to sleep in Jesus' arms on Sunday, September 1, 2013. He valiantly battled Leukemia and is now cancer free. Today, he is celebrating the greatest ''no 'mo' chemo'' party ever.
Joshua was born on June 14, 2002 in Hawkinsville, Georgia. He had just completed 5th grade at Hilltop Elementary School and was preparing to go into 6th grade at Mossy Creek Middle School. Joshua attended both Way, Truth and Life Church and Cochran Field Church of God where he enjoyed singing solos. He also loved playing with Legos and learning to play the guitar.

A true animal lover, Joshua adored any and all animals, and they loved him in turn. All of the family pets seemed to be drawn to him, no matter whose pets they were. He especially loved his pet guinea pig, Angel, who he trained to walk on a leash. Joshua was also very handy. His mom nicknamed him "MacGyver" for his unique ability to fix or make things with whatever he had available.
Joshua's family would like to give a special thanks to the doctors, nurses, and all of the caring staff at Egleston Children's' Hospital. Each and every person they came in contact with made them feel as they were a part of one big family, whether they laughed and cried with them, or just showed that they genuinely cared.
Visitation will be Wednesday, September 4, 2013 from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 5, 2013 in the chapel of McCullough Funeral Home with interment following in Magnolia Park Cemetery. Reverend Danny Thornton and Reverend Gerry Golden will officiate. As September marks National Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, the family asks that you keep the many children fighting this terrible disease in your thoughts and prayers, and support them as you can.
