Elijah was my Great Great Grandfather Charles K. Drury's older Brother. He was also a Civil War Veteran, he fought and served with the 1st Massachusetts Infantry, Co. F. and saw action at every major battle in the Eastern theater except Antietam, his regiment was sent to defend Washington DC just in case the enemy broke through at Antietam.

After the war, he moved west, settled in Iowa he started out working for the Railroads in DeSoto, Dallas County, Iowa and eventually ended up in Monticello, Jones County, Iowa. It was here that he met his wife, Mary K. Thornton and they would have four children.
