In Memory of Jack William Buske
Jack W. Buske, loving husband, father, and grandfather passed away on August 28th, 2013 at the age of 95.
Mr. Buske was born May 25th, 1918 in Comal County to Willie and Linda Meckel Buske.
Mr. Buske graduated from New Braunfels High School in 1937, and later graduated from Draughon's Business College. He married the love of his life Angeline Jentsch on February 8th, 1941 in New Braunfels and they were married for 65 years.
During World War II he was proud to serve his country in the Coast Guard. He spent his early working years at the well- known hoisery mill of New Braunfels. He then was a Purchasing Agent for the New Braunfels Utilities for 27 years until his retirement in 1985. He was a lifelong member of First Protestant Church. He served on the church council for many years and also served as Treasurer. For several years he was a Sunday school teacher.
Mr. Buske was a coach for Little League baseball teams for numerous years, was a lifetime member of Solms Bowling Club, and a member of Comal Bowl. He was a Life member of the American Legion Post 179, Charter member of the Evening Lions Club, and Life member of the Elks Lodge #2279, member of the New Braunfels Grand Lodge No. 1109 A.F. & A.M., and the Fraternal Order of Eagles #2999.
He was also a member of the Starlite Dance Club and he and his wife enjoyed dancing together even up to their latter years. He cherished the friendships he made at his swimming classes at the YMCA and with his Friday night dinner group.
He was affectionately known as Opie by his loved ones. He is survived by his daughter, Jacqueline Meyer and husband Greg of New Braunfels, his son, Barry Buske and wife Laura of New Braunfels, his granddaughter, Meredith Brant and husband Kyle of New Braunfels, his grandson Barry Buske Jr. and fiance Suzanne Berger of New Braunfels, one step-grandson Neal Lucas, one step-granddaughter Christy Lucas, his loyal dog and companion Jeeper, also several nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends.
His is preceded in death by his wife Angeline. He will be greatly missed by all who loved him.
Funeral services will be held at Doeppenschmidt Funeral Home on Monday September 2nd at 10:00 am. Visitation will begin on Saturday August 31 from 8am-6pm, and continues Sunday from 8am-8pm with the family present 4-7pm.
Memorials may be given to First Protestant Church, Hope Hospice, or charity of one's choice.
