Maurine Miller, 85, died Monday, September 2, 2013 at Sanford Hospice Cottage, Sioux Falls. Funeral services will be at 11:00am Thursday, September 5, 2013 at Grace Lutheran Church, Parker.

Maurine Osthus Miller was born on a farm north of Centerville, SD on December 4, 1927 to Martin and Mabel (Andal) Osthus. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. She attended country school south of Centerville for eight years and then attended and graduated from Centerville High School in 1945. Following graduation Central Telephone Company was her employer in Sioux Falls and she met Lyman Miller through her uncle's family Ben and Emma Osthus.

On March 4, 1947 she was united in marriage to Lyman J. Miller at Nazarene Lutheran Church of Centerville. To this union six children where born, Les, Marilyn, Ken, Marv, Harland, and Tim.

Following their marriage they moved to a farm north of Parker where they lived and farmed 55 of their 63 married years until Lyman's death in June 2010.

Maurine was a diligent and active member of Grace Lutheran Church in Parker teaching Sunday School, Bible School, serving on the Parish Board of Education, and as an WELCA officer for a number of years. She faithfully visited the sick and homebound members of her community. She was a member of the VFW Auxiliary and the Neighborhood Club.

Grateful for having shared her life are 6 children, Les (Bev) Miller, Sioux Falls, Marilyn Plooster, Sioux Falls, Ken (Jeanine) Miller, Parker, Marvin (Paula) Miller, Parker, Harlan Miller, Mitchell, and Tim (Harfiz) Miller, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia; 10 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; a brother Obed (Vi) Osthus, Sioux Falls; 3 sisters, Hazel Christofferson, Centerville, Artis Johnson, Beresford, and Carol Brende, Sioux Falls; and a sister in law Eleanor Osthus, Lennox that continue the Martin Osthus family circle.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Lyman, a son in law, Norman Plooster, a brother James Osthus, brothers and sisters in law, Leon Brende, Conrad Johnson, Arnold Christofferson, Bill and Helena Miller, Cora Mae and Bill Schoenwald, and Melvin Miller.
