of 6564 Log City Road, died on Tuesday, April 9, 2013 at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester.
The family will receive friends on Sunday (April 14) from 2:00 to 6:00pm at Covert Funeral Home, 7199 So. Main Street in Ovid. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home at 11:00am on Monday (April 15), officiated by Rev. Barbara De'Angelis of the Varick United Methodist Church. Prayers of committal will be held at Ovid Union Cemetery. Jon was born in Oneida, NY on March 1, 1958, a son of Gottfried and Jean Marie Middleditch. He graduated from V-V-S High School in Verona in 1977, and started a long career at Goulds Pumps later that year. He worked at Goulds for nearly 34 years, retiring in October of 2011 as a parts coordinator and assembler. Jon was married to his best friend, Joanne Rotondo, on August 15, 1980. Jon was an active member of NA, and had celebrated 25 years of being clean. He worked at Taylor Brown Hospital in Waterloo in the de-tox unit, and volunteered to conduct NA meetings at South Butler, Willard and Auburn correctional facilities. He was an avid motorcyclist, and enjoyed riding with his wife, and teaching his daughters to ride at a young age. In a desire to serve his community, Jon joined the Ovid Fire Department upon moving to Ovid.
He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Joanne C. Meyer of Ovid; his mother, Jean Marie Meyer of Waterloo,; his children, Katharine Smith of Seneca Falls, Kerilynn (Kristian) Wasney of Seneca Falls, Kirsten (Daniel) Philbee of Savannah and Corey Jones of Penn Yan; his grandchildren, Hannah, NolaAnn, Jonathan, Nathaniel, Peyton, EmmaLynn, EllenMarie, Jackson, Alexander and Gwendolyn; his siblings, Patricia (Clinton) Farnsworth of Cranberry Lake, NY, Robert (Theodora) Meyer of Mechanicsville, NY, Jean (Richard) Green of Waterloo, and Donna (Joseph) Trusso of Jamestown, NY; his aunt, Dawn Bzdick of Plains, PA, and uncle, Donald Tuffley Sr. of Clay, NY, several cousins, nieces and nephews, and his beloved CoCo dog.
