Oct. 31,1946 - Apr. 9, 2011

PORTLAND - Happy Birthday to our Susie! "All Hallows eve", in the year 1946, our precious family member, Susan Claire Peterson entered into this world with sparkling blue eyes and fiery, red curly hair. Always the perfect accessory to her Halloween costume in the yearly celebration in the Englewood neighborhood of her childhood.

Susan graduated North Salem High School in 1965. Married Charles Mitchell 1968. Graduated from Oregon State University 1969 where she was a member of the Tri Delta sorority.

Susan used her education in home economics to teach microwave cooking and to co-write a microwave cookbook, "Creative Microwave Cooking". She balanced this with parenting her two daughters Amy and Emily, and working the family cranberry bog. She was a preschool teacher at Holy Cross Luthern church in Salem, Oregon. Later she worked for the U.S. government at the Naval Post-Graduate school in Monterey California.

She was finally able to fulfil her desire for sunshine and beach living while in Monterey, with her second husband Harry Hudson and his two sons Theo and Joe.

In 2006 Susie was diagnoised with Melanoma. She put up the good fight and lived longer than projected by anyone's expectations. Her undaunting attitude allowed her to continue to enjoy life and make the memories she wanted her grandchildren to have. She took many trips to Hawaii to spend time with Emily and her family. As well as countless hours playing school with Anniston, or taking trips to their local library together to check out their favorite book "Blabber Mouse".

She was preceded in death by her parents,Frances and Kenneth Peterson. She is survived by her two sisters, Karol Cox of Jefferson, and Kris Peterson of Olympia, WA. Husband Harry Hudson of Portland and former husband Charles Mitchell of Long Beach, WA. Daughters Amy Mitchell of Portland, Emily Aguilera of Hawaii. And step-sons Theo and Joe Hudson. Last but not least, her super star grandchildren, Dante and Seraphina Teeter(who has her curly red hair), Matilda Aguilera, and Anniston Mitchell-Neal.
