MOULTRIE — Cortez Todd Hewett, 85, of Moultrie, died Tuesday, Dec. 15, 2009, at Colquitt Regional Medical Center.

Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Friday, Dec. 18, at Baker Funeral Home, with the Rev. Andy Cashwell officiating. Burial will follow in Reedy Creek Cemetery with Mike Todd, Tim Todd, Joey Todd, Dwayne Todd, Levi Todd and Mike Duran serving as pallbearers. The honorary pallbearers will be the men of Memorial Baptist Church and Mount Olive Baptist Church.


She was born April 17, 1924, in Hartsfield, to the late Joe Greene Richter and Grace Hall Richter. She was the eldest of eight children. She began her life on a farm in Hartsfield. After marrying the late Kiser Todd, she became a housewife, store operator and, later, a quality control inspector at Bridgeport Brass Co. After her children had completed their education, she returned to school to become a licensed practical nurse. She retired from nursing at the age of 75.

In addition to her husbands, Kiser Todd and Leroy Hewett, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Edgar Richter, V.W. "Buddy" Richter and Johnny Richter; her sons, Nathaniel Gerrell Todd, Joe Franklin Todd and Jerry David Todd; and a grandson, Shane Todd.
