Born near Dermott, Arkansas he moved to Jonesboro in 1962, moving here from Pine Bluff, Arkansas.
He had been in the Life Insurance business since 1956. He served 34 years in the Arkansas National Guard enlisting as Pvt. and retiring as Lt. Colonel. George served on the board of the Craighead County Solid Waste Authority. He was the past chairman of the Craighead Republican Committee and had served on the Craighead County Election Commission.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Lucille Tollison and his parents.
Survivors include his wife of 15 years, Lavonda Tollison, of the home; sons, Jeff Tollison and wife Tiwana; Gary Tollison, of Jonesboro; Greg Schug and wife Becky of Benton, Arkansas; daughters, Brenda Tilley and husband Dean of Greenwood, Mississippi; Tanya Blevins and husband Terry of Paragould, Arkansas; six grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at Emerson Memorial Chapel with Matt Smith and Greg Sanders officiating and Emerson Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Burial was private.
