Louisa Florin was born in 1868 in Montana, Buffalo County, Wisconsin. Her parents were Andrew Florin and Susanna Schamann, who were born in Switzerland and farmed in Buffalo County. She married Martin Buchli, a native of Switzerland, on March 2, 1893 in Montana. They had four children and a large dairy farm and three-story house. After Martin died, Louisa continued to manage the farm with the help of her sons, and she was known as a successful business woman in the area. She later married Henry Hoevel and moved to Eau Claire, Wisconsin, where she died in 1934. She was buried near her first husband, Martin Buchli, in the Montana Methodist Cemetery.
