A Memorial service for Billy Joe Huckaby,75, of Tyler, will be held on Tuesday, September 3, 2013 at 11:00 AM at Green Acres Baptist Church with Dr. David Dykes officiating, under the direction of Stewart Family Funeral Home. The family will receive friends following the service.
Mr. Huckaby passed away Wednesday, August 28, 2013 in Tyler.
He was born November 5, 1937 in Pryor, Oklahoma to Burrel and Geneva Mensch Huckaby.
Billy Joe was a member of Green Acres Baptist Church where he was a Deacon Emeritus and formerly taught in the youth department. He was a Mason and he enjoyed hunting, fishing and watching sports on TV. Mr. Huckaby loved to play pinochle and 42 with his friends. He retired from Mrs. Bairds Bakery and worked security at GABC for the past ten years.
In addition to his parents, he preceded in death by his sister, Edna Mae Stipes.
Billy Joe is survived by his loving family including his wife of 52 years, Arlene Huckaby of Tyler; daughters, Laura Gavril and husband to be Lane Leppink of Haslett, MI and Marcia Huckaby of Tyler; son, Cliff Huckaby of Tyler; brothers, John Huckaby and Homer Huckaby of Pryor, Oklahoma and honorary family member, Scott Whitehurst of Tyler.
