Irena Cox was the daughter of Joseph Cox and Mary Hossier. She married first her deceased sister's widower, Joseph Moffitt some time before 1860. By him she had children George Washington, Matthew and Stella Moffitt. Joseph Moffitt died in 1872. Irena then married Hiram Echols on 30 July 1874 in Otoe County, Nebraska. Irena married a third time on 26 December 1889 in Nodaway County, Missouri to George H Dearing.
