Carla Thompson, 79, of Two Harbors, died Wednesday August 28, 2013, at St. Luke's Hospital in Duluth. She is gone from home but not from our hearts.

She was born February 23, 1934 to Cecil Howard Sr. and Lydia Lucille (Norton) Huntley. Carla was raised in Indiana until 1953 then moved to Finland with her husband of 23 years, William A. Thompson. She was active in the Finland community, where she raised her children, hunted with her sons, fished with her father-in-law, and planted trees with many of the Finland ladies.

Carla moved to Duluth in 1973 where she worked as a nurse's aide at Nopeming Nursing Home for 18 years. In 1986, she moved to Two Harbors and worked at Superior Shores until she retired. Carla was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Cecil Huntley Jr.; sister, Geraldine Nordman; and daughter, Mary Susan Thompson.

She is survived by her sister, Dorothy Bressler; children, Terry "Mouse" (Kathy) Thompson, Debbie (Ricky) Waldron, Steve (Dory) Thompson, Joe (Debbie) Thompson, and Dave (Louann) Thompson; grandchildren, Paul (Erin) Thompson, Sara (Jason) Betzler, Scott (Savannah) Krech, Jamie (Amanda) Krech, Joshua Waldron, Stacy (Phil) Nightwine, Kody Waldron, Roxanne Maki, Mitch Maki, Dakota Thompson, and Skylar Thompson; great-grandchildren, Ava and Bella Thompson, Fisher and Sophie Betzler, Layla, Althea, and Rebel Krech, Dakota, Nathalia, Diego, and Daxon Krech, Caleb Waldron, Jhan Banas, and Aubree June; several nieces and nephews, and many close friends.

Graveside Service will be held 1 PM Saturday, September 28, 2013 at Crystal Bay Cemetery in Finland. A luncheon will be served at Northwood's Café in Silver Bay immediately following.
