Thomas J. McDermitt
MT. SAVAGE — A requiem mass was celebrated Monday for Thomas J. McDermitt, 67, former resident, who died last Friday in Buckley, W Va. Rev. Paul Helsey, pastor of St Francis DeSales Catholic Church was celebrant, and interment was in Sunset Memorial Cemetery in Buckley. Mr. McDermitt was a member of Council 557, Knights of Columbus of Mt. Savage, and the Beckley Moose Lodge. He was also a member of the church's Holy Name Society. Pallbearers were Dr. Fred Richmond, J M Mannix. Claude England, Woody Thurman, William Farley and Morgan Hughes. His first wife, Mrs Regina (Martin) McDermitt, died in 1940. Surviving are his widow, Mrs Eva Flint McDermitt; two sons, John McDermitt, Clearfield, Pa and Thomas J. McDermitt Jr Washington two daughters, Mrs Samuel Cohn. Beckley; Mrs. John Crosby, Jersey City. N. J. Also surviving are two sisters, Miss Veronica McDermitt and Mrs Catherine Copleston, of here; several nieces and nephews. Another son, Capt. Edward McDermitt, was killed in an airplane crash last year over Baltimore.
